It is estimated that in India only 36 percent of women use sanitary pads or other hygiene products during their menstrual cycle.
Building Dreams aims to ensure that every woman in slums & villages has access to pads during their period.
While governments and larger organizations aim to address this issue, we believe that grassroots level organizations such as us, have to play a bigger role.
We run 2 initiatives under “Pads for All”-The Pad drives and Pad Banks.
Pad Drives:
On the 15th day of each month, we deliver a monthly supply of pads to 300+ women living in the slums. BDF volunteers conduct regular programs to create awareness about health and hygiene during menstruation and how to use sanitary pads.
Pad Banks:
In addition to our monthly pad drive, we have installed pad banks in various government aided schools, villages and slums. Women are free to access these pads at any time. We rely on donations, in cash or kind, to replenish the stocks in these Pad Banks.
